Emir specializes in writing about the best eats, stays, and attractions off the beaten path for his very famous blog, "The Road Less Traveled".
Alexis Rose is able to secure a VIP reservation at the Rosebud Motel for Emir, and beyond giving him extra special treatment, the motel staff decide to secretly use Stevie Budd to act as a plant to talk up the greatness of the motel while he is there. Emir, oblivious to the fact that she is a plant, even asks Stevie out, finding her modest and relatively normal compared to other women he's met at motels, and the two click. He isn't even bothered when she reveals she was actually a plant; he also writes a positive blog about the motel, calling it a "must-stay".
After his review of the motel, Emir begins a long-distance romance with Stevie; David refers to him as her "cell phone boyfriend." However, Emir ends up misunderstanding how serious Stevie is wanting to take their relationship, leading to the whole situation hurting her, ultimately ending their brief romance.
