Soap Expo is a soap opera fan convention held somewhere outside Schitt's Creek.
Overview[]
Former soap-star Moira Rose (representing Sunrise Bay) is taken here by her daughter Alexis to earn some money to overcome the debt associated from putting on Cabaret, however, Moira balks at the idea, having previously resisted appearing at any such event, feeling them beneath her.
It is at Soap Expo that Moira runs into her old colleague: soap opera super star and 17-time Emmy winner Gloria Gregson, who famously starred on Touched with Grace for 37 seasons. Gloria tells Moira that, as actresses they have to do whatever it takes to survive; Gloria having done dozens of conventions a year.
She goes on to talk about how she used to spend her entire time chasing after parts, worrying about what people thought of her. She tells Moira that conventions are a godsend and that they give her the freedom in letting go. This pep talk gives Moira a change of heart and she goes forward in doing the convention.
