"Start Spreading the News" is the thirteenth episode in the sixth season of Schitt's Creek. It is the seventy-ninth episode overall.

Plot Summary[]

With Ruth Clancy's newly formed venture capital company making a deal with the group for the Rosebud Motel franchising project, those within the group have made decisions about where they will live. While Roland, Jocelyn, and Stevie have decided to stay in Schitt's Creek, Stevie who is assigned to be the lead in setting up all the new motels, Johnny, Moira, Alexis, David, and by association, Patrick have decided to move to New York. What happens with Johnny and Moira is affected by the reboot of Sunrise Bay which has passed her by with producer Tippy Bernstein favouring Moira's former costar Clifton Sparks over her outrageous demands. Before leaving, Alexis has a heart to heart with Twyla upon learning a secret she has been keeping ever since the Roses arrived in town. And David learns the reason why Patrick was so shocked that David had automatically made the decision that they would move to the big city. In speaking to Stevie, David admits why he so desperately wants to move back to New York despite it being a place where he faced nothing but heartache, and has to decide if that reason is more important than what Patrick wants.
