Surprise Party

"Surprise Party" is the twelfth episode in the first season of Schitt's Creek. It is the twelfth episode overall.

Plot Summary[]

Moira's birthday is fast approaching and Johnny wants to hold a surprise party for her. He initially doesn't get much assistance in organizing the party from either David or Alexis, the latter who doesn't even want to attend as she and Ted were planning on a romantic getaway in Chicago the day of the party since Ted has to attend a veterinary convention there anyway. Alexis is eventually convinced by Ted to stay for the party while he goes to Chicago alone.

Meanwhile, Stevie is still struggling with dealing with what it means to be friends with David.

Johnny assigns the party planning to David, who reluctantly agrees. Johnny decides to enlist Roland and Jocelyn's help in the party, masquerading it as a black tie fundraiser that Jocelyn is organizing. But one problem with the plan arises after another, the most difficult to overcome being Moira, a born events planner who wants to take control of the event, threatening not to attend if she doesn't get her way.

David decides to tell Moira the truth, and Moira decides to attend the event, using her acting skills to appear surprised. Johnny instantly figures out someone told her. However, Moira is appreciative. In the party, Stevie tells David what she has been thinking and the two reconcile. Alexis, without Ted by her, starts flirting with a now single Mutt, however, before they get to dancing, Ted appears! Ted wanted to surprise Alexis. Alexis goes to dance with Ted, leaving Mutt a bit annoyed at the situation. In the end, Johnny and Moira dance closely, with Johnny saying the town "cleans up pretty nice."
