The Schitt's Creek Town Council Election was held in November of 2015, following the resignation of Ray Butani, which left open a spot on council.

Winning by default, the campaign ticket of actress Moira Rose defeated the campaign ticket of school teacher Jocelyn Schitt after the latter dropped out of the race.

History[]

With news of what was Moira's triumphant appearance in front of town council, localized rumours abound that she was running for the council seat made vacant by Ray Butani's resignation, which she had no intention to do, especially in a town like Schitt's Creek. These rumours make Johnny think of running instead, however, it is Moira who ends up running in the end, and against Jocelyn who forms her own political campaign for the seat on council. Thus the election becomes Moira Rose verses Jocelyn Schitt.

What begins as an image war between the two, later becomes a very heated election, with Jocelyn hosting campaign parties to woo prospective key voting groups, causing Moira to feel that she has to do the same: working for Ronnie's endorsement, who implies that she and a group of women were open to lending their support to whichever candidate is willing to work toward the wants of their key demographic; and after a gathering of said key demographic hosted by Ronnie, Moira is successful is achieving Ronnie’s endorsement.

As the election runs it’s course, Jocelyn and Roland have a major fight, leading to Roland temporarily taking up residence at the motel, much to the Roses chagrin; As Johnny and Moira’s peace and quiet is interrupted, Roland and Jocelyn's problems lead directly and indirectly to them having to face the state of their own marriage.

In a final act of the election, a few campaign lawn signs belonging to Moira suddenly go missing. While she is uncertain what happened to them, Johnny is certain it was the opposing camp of Jocelyn that had something to do with it, however, in speaking to Stevie, Johnny gets a clearer picture of what actually happened: Moira threw away her own signs. Through it all, both Jocelyn and Moira come to some conclusions about the election and what the results mean to them; Jocelyn eventually becomes disillusioned with the political process when her and Moira almost become enemies, as well as realizing that she would have to be working alongside her husband everyday, so she immediately quits her campaign, leaving Moira winning the election by default, as no one else was running.
